PCI RS-232, RS-422, RS-485 Isolated Serial Interface (BTO)

The ISO COMM1.PCI is a PCI bus isolated single channel serial I/O adapter. It provides a field selectable RS­232/422/485 serial port supporting data rates up to 460.8K bps. Isolation is important in installations where the equipment connected to the PC is either located far from the host system, or on a different power transformer circuit. True optical isolation on the ISO COMM1.PCI eliminates the effects of Ground Loop Current, a commonly neglected and misunderstood phenomenon that leads to data errors and the destruction of communications equipment. Configure the serial port as RS­232 when highly reliable standard serial ports are required. Choose the RS-422 mode for long distance device connections up to 5000ft. where noise immunity and high data integrity are essential. Select RS-485 and capture data from multiple peripherals in a RS­485 multidrop network. Up to 31 RS-485 devices can be connected to the port to automate your data collection. Sealevel even has optional DB9 terminal block adapters to simplify field wiring and custom pin-out configurations. In RS-485 mode, our onboard auto-enable hardware automatically handles the RS-485 driver enable allowing the RS­485 ports to be treated as a standard serial port by the operating system. This allows the standard COM: driver to be utilized for RS­485 communications. Windows 3.1x drivers and OS/2 drivers are available. We include our Advanced COM drivers for 95/98/ME/NT/2000 and XP providing IRQ sharing, Windows serial diagnostics, and other enhanced features. Our Linux and QNX utilities are also included to simplify installation.
